A Random Rant About Booties (the Shoe Kind)

Last year I started wanting a pair of booties (I know I am slow on the uptake…but it takes me a second to get into trends as I have said before).  I didn’t want to spend a lot of money on them because, well, I don’t spend too much money on trends that I am not sure how long they will last.

I found these darling little booties at Target last year and I QUICKLY fell for them.  I love the shape, the fringe, and especially the “click” they make when I walk.

This year I have wanted to wear them with EVERYTHING (and I do…)!  I really need to get a few more pair of booties because I really love how they look, and I think they are perfect for fall weather.

In the mean time however, I am definitely going to get my money’s worth out of these.

Leather and Stripes

Leather is definitely one of my favorite trends of the season.  These faux leather pants are some of my favorites!
I have quite a few other pieces on my wish list (colored leather anyone?)
Today’s weather definitely felt like autumn, in fact there is snow in the mountains.  I need more sweater weather, not coat weather!

Slouchy

Some trends I have to warm up to (I won’t even tell you how long I fought skinny jeans), some I will never warm up to (palazzo pants will most likely never appear on this blog), and there there are the trends that I jump right into.  Love at first sight if you will.  This is how I feel about the slouchy, chunky, oversized sweater trend.  Oh yes, it was definitely love at first sight.

In fact the day I noticed them in H&M, I scooped up a bunch of them and have been wearing them A LOT.  They are so cute with skinny jeans (so glad I jumped on that trend) and I have also loved them with my faux leather pants (in a post coming up).  Yep, I am a fan.

I like oversized sweaters even more when they have pockets…

Leopard X 2 and a Glimpse of The Bachelor

Is it just me or does every store seem to have the cutest stuff right now.  I am never sure if I am just so ready for fall that everything seems so cute, or if everything really is just dang cute.  I found some CUTE stuff at Old Navy and Target today and H&M last week (I really need to stop…)

My favorite all time color for autumn (or any other time of year really), is camel.  I just cant get enough of it!

I have been loving the chilly mornings around here and today I made peach-raspberry jam and canned it.  It felt very fallish :)

Last Saturday Josh and I went to the Electric Run 5K.  This is a new race this year and it is SO FUN!  It is at night and everything is glowing.  The course is so fun and interesting you never know what you are going to pass by, like cute white umbrellas in a tree…LOVED IT!

It was all the more interesting however since Juan Pablo the new Bachelor was there on a date.  Josh and I crossed the finish line and were told that he was due to come in in about 2 minutes, so of course we had to stay and get a picture (even though his face is totally blank here…I promise it is him but the lighting was horrible and he wouldn’t stand still! ;)  It was a fun night!  I want to take my boys next time we do this race!

Fashion Risks and More Orange and Navy

h

I have been a fashion lover for as long as I can remember.  For the most part my favorite kind of outfit was something that looked completely put together.  While I still love a well put together look, I have found myself trying to get out of my comfort zone lately.

Today I put on this outfit for church with a pair of taupe flats.  I thought it looked cute and put together, but I didn’t feel like it was very fun.  I went to these crazy high booties in my closet (that I love but don’t wear enough), and stuck them on just for fun.  I actually really loved the look, but almost immediately took them off since wearing them with a skirt was a bit of a risk for me…

I decided to leave them on for a bit and right before church decided to go with them.  I loved wearing them, they added a bit of the unexpected in my outfit and dare I say were FUN to wear.  Whether anyone else thought it looked “put together” or not, really didn’t matter because I had a great time with my “fashion risk.”

So much, far too much, most of us put emphasis in what others think of what we are wearing instead of how we feel in what we are wearing.  If we worry too much of what others think, I think it takes all of the fun out of fashion.  So that is my soapbox for the day, take risks and keep styling an outfit fun, if you feel like a rock star in an outfit, don’t let anyone talk you out of it!  The End.
